Scammers target PayPal
p2pnet.net News:- eBay customers routinely get phony requests for personal data disguised as ’security updates’ and anything else scammers can think of. In fact, it’d be interesting to know how many people actually respond.
Be that as it may, PayPal, owned by eBay, is having the same trouble and thinks it’s serious enough to have posted warnings on its website here.
This is somewhat ironic given that PayPal itself recently admitted that it misled people into believing it offers credit-card-style protection and told New York State attorney general Eliot Spitzer, that it will in future "be more open with the exact level of protection it offers its 25 million customers".
Now, "Recently, PayPal members have reported suspicious-looking emails and fake websites," says the company.
"These emails are not from PayPal and responding to them may put your account at risk. Please protect your PayPal account by paying close attention to the emails you receive and the websites you visit."
