Sony drops PS3 price
p2pnet.net News:- The Sony PlayStation 3 costs twice as much as Microsoft and Nintendo games products and in a bid to to make it competitive, ceo Howard Stringer has knocked about 20% off the cost off in Japan,.
If Sony hadn’t slashed the price, “game players in Japan would have nearly been able to buy both the Xbox 360 and Wii for the price of one PS3,” observes Reuters, adding:.
“The decision, however, created investor doubts over the consistency of the company’s market strategy and the validity of its market research, said Masaki Iso, chief investment officer at Yasuda Asset Management.”
Stringer is also praying the move will save the company, “which has lost half its market value in the past six years,” says The Telegraph, going on that even after the price cut PS3, with a Blu-ray DVD player and Cell processor, is the most expensive player on the market.
“The game player will retail for ¥49,980 (about $437) from November 11 and comes with a connection that allows high-definition pictures, says the story.
