UK stores get RFID warning
2pnet.net News:- UK store owners will have to make sure customers know if items they’ve bought carry RFID spy chips, and tell them how to remove them, says the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Customers will also have to be told if if CCTV cameras are in the store, says Out-Law.com.
RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) tags are used for inventory management in many shops but are increasingly used on shop shelves to identify products, says the story, going on that the ICO says shops must comply with the Data Protection Act, “when RFID information is collected alongside personal identifying information, such as CCTV footage.
“RFID chips are causing some privacy activists concerns as they enable retailers, state bodies and any other using organisation to gather information about people’s product choices, movements and habits,” saysthe story, adding, “One concern is about the security of the information, once gathered.
“The ICO’s guidance warns of skimming, cloning and eavesdropping on tags and the transmission of data between tags and readers.”

I hate those tags, a couple years ago when I purchased my last DVD the idiot at the till didn’t scan it properly so when I walk out the store all the alarms whent off, some security guy’s stoped me and everyone was just standing there looking at me.
You give them your money and they ripp you off and make you look like a fool.
