Google says it won’t meet a Brazilian deadline to turn over information on users of its social networking service Orkut – the Associated Press.

Symantec says Microsoft withheld key information about its upcoming Vista operating system to gain an advantage in the security market – CNET News.

PayPal will pay $1.7 million to 28 US states and “clarify how it notifies consumers of measures it takes to protect their financial data”. It’ll also set up a $3.5 million, “less court and attorneys fees,” to settle a proposed class action lawsuit by PayPal customers. But it’s, “not admitting any liability for any of the allegations in the two cases” – Reuters.

A Swedish major general who had hard-core porn in his possession endangered military security, say the country’s authorities. According to TV4’s Kalla Fakta, Major General Tony Stigsson risked blackmail when he, “made contact with unknown persons on the internet with the intention of meeting them for group sex at swingers’ clubs” - The Local.

Illegal DVD sniffer-dogs (the DVDs are illegal, not the dogs ; ) Lucky and Flo showed up in Washington yesterday and already, they’ve sniffed out DVDs in boxes at Stansted Airport in England, says the MPAA. “Potential embarrassment: Pirated DVDs smell just like legally obtained ones. (’Sorry, your majesty.’)” – The Washington Post.
